Riley Physicians Provide Car Seat Expertise To Area Families

Last updated on Monday, September 10, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Around 10 million people in the United States are involved in car accidents each year. The odds of infant mortality in the case of a car crash drops by 75 percent if they are safely in a car seat, and the odds of child mortality in a car crash are reduced by over 60 percent if they are safely restrained in a seat.

That's where the Riley Physicians Child Passenger Safety program can help out.

Call (812) 333-2304 to sign up for a free child car seat inspection -- offered by Riley Physicians -- that fits into your
schedule.

Located at 5081 N. Old State Road 37 in Bloomington, IN, car seat safety inspections are made available through a partnership between Riley Physicians, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI). The authorized child seat inspection station provides free inspections, valuable information, and resources to help keep children safe.

All children less than eight years of age are required by Indiana's child passenger safety law to be properly restrained in a federally-approved child restraint system. Once a child is big enough to fit in a seat belt properly, parents should still remember that the safest place for the child is in the back seat.
