Jury Selection To Begin This Morning In Murder Trial Of Lincoln Pickett

(BEDFORD) - Jury selection will begin this morning in Lawrence County Superior Court II in the murder trial of Lincoln Pickett.

Judge Williams Sleva is presiding over the trial. He declared a mistrial on July 25th in the middle of jury selection after being unable to seat a fair jury.

Public defender Joseph Lozano is representing Pickett. Lawrence County Prosecutor Michelle Woodward will present the case for the state.

Pickett, 36, of Mitchell, is charged with murder; obstruction of justice, abuse of a corpse, two counts of false informing and failure to report a dead body.

Indiana State Police say Pickett shot 29-year-old Kamie Ratcliff and then burned her body on his property at 3413 U.S. 50 West. He then lied to police about what happened.

Both Lincoln and his then wife Jasmine Pickett were arrested after officers found the body of Ratcliff in a bonfire at the couple's home on January 28, 2016.

Jasmine Pickett, 32, is charged with obstruction of justice, false informing and failure to report a dead body. The couple have since divorced.
