Last updated on Thursday, September 20, 2018

(TIPPECANOE CO.) - On Tuesday, at 5:20 p.m., a Monroe County Corrections center inmate transport vehicle was struck from behind by a motorist while traveling on State Road 43 North in Tippecanoe County.

Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain says Officers Jordan Fordyce and Kevin Ramsey were transporting a 42-year-old male inmate back to Monroe County when they were struck from behind by an 87-year-old woman driving a Lexus sedan.

The Correction Center van was leaking fluid and was towed from the crash scene.
The officers and inmate complained of pain and were treated and released from a local hospital.

Monroe County Corrections staff drove to Lafayette this same night to transport the inmate and corrections officers back to Monroe County.
