Bloomington Man Arrested On Rape, Battery, Criminal Confinement Charges

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested on charges of rape, domestic battery, and criminal confinement.

Bloomington Police arrested 34-year-old Anthony McDowell after he allegedly forced his way into a woman's house violating a restraining and protective order. Police officers were alerted to the crime at around 9 p.m. Monday.

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams says McDowell's 52-year-old girlfriend told police the two had been living together, but McDowell had become violent and paranoid due to his health issues and abuse of meth.

The girlfriend told police McDowell had been abusing her for days. She says on Thursday, Sept. 20th McDowell grabbed and twisted her head causing severe neck pain Then on Sunday, Sept. 23, McDowell allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him then locked her in a bathroom on Monday, Sept. 24th.

She filed for and was granted a restraining order against McDowell on Monday morning, but he had not been served with the order before breaking into the home later that day.
