(DUBOIS CO.) - More details have been made available in the reckless homicide of a 3-month-old Dubois County infant.

Police arrested the baby's parents, 28-year-old Jordan Leinenback and 24-year-old Cassandra Potts, both of Jasper, on felony charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and reckless homicide. Both says they did nothing to harm the baby.

According to police the unresponsive infant was brought to Memorial Hospital emergency room on July 30th. The baby was then flown to Norton's Children's Hospital in Louisville and died on August 1st at 7:54 p.m.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the infant was born prematurely and after being in the NICU at Deaconess Women's Hospital in Newburgh for two months, was sent home on June 8. The infant was supposed to remain on a constant oxygen supply and be hooked to a monitor except during times like when the infant was bathed.

Police determined the infant was only hooked up to the monitor on three occasions between July 11 and July 30.

During an interview, Leinenbach told police that the monitor had failed to record the times the infant was hooked up to it due to the memory on the unit being full.

An autopsy report states the baby had suffered two severe brain bleeds and was not a result of the premature birth. The optic nerve was also hemorrhaged which indicated some type of severe head trauma. The forensic pathologist also found the baby had three different ribs fractures that were caused at least two weeks before the infant died.
