Police say a 2003 Honda van driven by 41-year-old Miko McRoy of Medora was traveling eastbound on State Road 56 near Amber Waves Boulevard. McRoy's vehicle struck a westbound 2010 Mazda head-on driven by 22-year-old Dallas Jackson of Madison.

At this time, it is unclear which vehicle crossed the centerline first as the vehicles collided in the center of the roadway.

As a result of the collision, Jackson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office at the scene.

McRoy was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A passenger in Jackson's vehicle, 21-year-old Zachary Kelly of Lexington, IN was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing to determine which vehicle crossed the centerline. Toxicology results are pending on both drivers.

Officers with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and Hanover Police Department assisted along with personnel with Hanover Fire Department and King's Daughters' Health Emergency Medical Services.
