Linton Mayor Struck By Duke Energy Truck

(LINTON) - Linton Mayor John Wilkes was struck by a Duke Energy truck Thursday afternoon as he crossed Highway 54 in downtown Linton.

Mayor Wilkes suffered a head laceration and is recovering.

According to Linton Police Chief Troy Jerrell Mayor Wilkes was about three-fourths of the way across Highway 54 when he was struck by a Duke Energy truck turning onto Highway 54 from Main Street.

Wilkes was transported to a local hospital and then transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for observation.

Chief Jerrels says Mayor Wilkes is expected to recover and there is no word yet on when he will be released from the hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
