Lane Restrictions Begin Today For Curb Ramps At Greenwood

Last updated on Thursday, August 2, 2018

(GREENWOOD) - Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor for a $342,100 sidewalk improvement project plans to begin today at State Road 135 and Smith Valley Road where ADA-compliant curb ramps and pedestrian crossings will be constructed. Demolition and installation operations will require lane closures at the various work sites.

Once construction at Smith Valley Road is completed, contracted crews move to the S.R. 135-Main Street intersection where work includes extending a sidewalk with a 20-foot-long concrete "bridge" across a drainage ditch. The 6-foot-wide sidewalk extension is designed to connect existing sidewalk with the new curb ramp.

In addition to ADA curb ramps, the project calls for pedestrian-activated signals and crosswalk markings all intersections.

Batesville-based OLCO is INDOT's contractor for this multiple-location safety improvement project at intersections in Greenwood and Bloomington.

The Greenwood locations are:

At Bloomington, ADA-complaint ramps and pedestrian crosswalks will be installed on S.R. 46 at its intersection with S.R. 45/10th Street.
