Last updated on Wednesday, August 1, 2018

(MITCHELL) - Hoosier Uplands has been awarded a grant in the amount of one million dollars by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority for the improvement and rehabilitation of Persimmon Park Apartments in Mitchell.

Persimmon Park was built in the early 1970s and ownership was assumed by Hoosier Uplands in 2005.

At that time, Hoosier Uplands completed a $2 million renovation to the 56 unit complex.

"We are very pleased to receive the grant of HOME funds and plans are to replace many of the HVAC systems, windows, flooring and some appliances," said David Miller, Hoosier Uplands Chief Executive Officer.

"We strive to keep all our properties up to date and well maintained," Miller said.

Work should begin in the fall of 2018.

Persimmon Park was originally funded through the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development in the 1970's.
