(UNDATED) - Now that children are going back to school, parents may have questions about their children's education.

The best place to look for answers to these questions is the Indiana Department of Education's (IDOE) website. The information on this website includes detailed information on Indiana academic standards, events, news and student data. There are resource pages geared toward administrators, families, teachers and community members.

The page for families, called the Parent Portal, includes information on diploma requirements, duel credit, early learning, English learning and migrant education, home school, homeless students, K-12 school websites, school improvement and an interactive database compass for school and corporation data.

Parents and other researchers can use this database to find information for schools or school corporations including enrollment and attendance, as well as student performance, accountability and school personnel and educator ratings.

The student performance section shows graphs for student graduations and graduation trends. Plus, this section includes data on how the students did on the ISTEP, the Historical ISTEP, the IREAD-3, the SAT and ACT, as well as career and college readiness.

All of these areas can be useful to parents who are trying to ensure that their child/children get a good education.

Other areas on the IDOE website that might be of interest to parents are the pages on nutrition, graduation pathways and Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

For teachers, and those wanting to become teachers, there are pages for licensing and a job bank. The whole website is a great resource for anyone who is interested in the education and future of the young people in their Indiana communities.
