Burnt Clothes Sets Off Alarm At Bloomington Apartment

Last updated on Monday, August 20, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Firefighters responded to an apartment fire in the 2500 block of South Rockport Road on Thursday.

When firefighters and police arrived at Country View Apartments at 11:55 p.m. residents told them they heard the smoke alarm sounding and began checking for people inside.

A 57-year-old man living in the neighboring apartment discovered the apartment back door open and found a pile of burning clothes on the kitchen floor. He used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and moved a plastic tote also containing burnt clothing to the back porch.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
