Bloomington Symphony Orchestra Kicks Off 2018-19 Season With Free Outdoor Concert

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Bloomington Symphony Orchestra will open its 2018-19 season on Sunday, August 19, at 7 p.m. with a free outdoor concert at Waldron Hill Buskirk Park.

The concert will pay tribute to beloved American composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this month. The orchestra will perform works by Bernstein and his friends and contemporaries, including Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, and George Gershwin. The program also will include patriotic and pops favorites.

The concert is free and open to the public. Sponsored by Smithville, the event is part of the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department's Performing Arts Series.
