(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Election Board met recently and reviewed the primary election turn out and vote center locations.
After reviewing the turn out each vote center, the board voted to amend the voter center plan.
Springville Elementary was added as a vote center. Perry Township has over 1500 registered voter in the area and is on a heavily used highway which Crane employees use.
Dollens Elementary was removed as a vote center site. Low usage in the primary, space and ADA concerns were all considered in the decision.
Satellite locations were added to the plan to accommodate early voters.
Heltonville School will be an early vote site on October 27th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Oolitic will have an early vote site on November 3rd from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the location to be determined.
Other early vote satellite locations may be considered at a later date.
All other sites have been kept the same.
Early voting at the Courthouse will begin October 10th and continue until November 5th at noon.
October 27th and November 5th will be the dates on Saturday to early vote at the Courthouse and Emerson Gym in Mitchell.
Early voting has been very popular in the last few years due to the flexibility and ease of voting.
When reviewing sites, the board looks for high traffic locations that can accommodate 1500 to 2000 voters on Election Day and ADA compliancy.
The board works closely with Chris Spinks, SICIL Director, for ADA compliancy.
2018 Election Vote Center Locations
You no longer have to vote at your precinct. A registered Lawrence County resident can vote at ANY of these centers! (with a valid ID)
Polls open 6 a.m. until 6 p.. on Nov. 6, 2018
Early Voting at the Lawrence County Courthouse will be October 10th through November 5th (closed 12-1 for lunch) from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
*Voting on November 5th will end at noon.
Saturday Voting at the Lawrence County Courthouse and Emerson Gym in Mitchell will be October 27th and November 3rd from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
