Last updated on Monday, July 23, 2018

(PARIS CROSSING) - A search for a Madison man wanted on a warrant in Jennings county has ended after he was found dead inside a residence in the Paris Crossing area.

Jennings County Sheriff Gary Driver says that officers found the body of 26-year-old Joseph Guadagnoli inside a home in the Paris Crossing area. He died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"Jennings County Sheriff's Deputy Kyle Lee was patrolling the area when he observed an open door to a residence which had previously been noted as closed. Upon further investigation deputies located a back door that had been forced open. Deputies found Guadagnoli's body during a safety sweep."

The homeowner of the residence was not there at the time.

Indiana Conservation Officers and Indiana State Police assisted with the investigation.

Guadagnoli was arrested in 2010 on charges of leaving the scene of an accident and illegal consumption of alcohol, according to a report in the Madison Courier.

Since 2010, he had had other exchanges and dealings with law enforcement, according to Madison Courier reports.

After an arrest in March of 2011 for felony burglary and felony theft, Guadagnoli was sentenced in June of 2012 to six years at the Indiana Department of Correction, all suspended except time served, probation, community corrections and ordered to pay an unknown amount of restitution, and fines and fees totaling $465.

In November 2012, Guadagnoli was one of 20 people arrested in a drug roundup after a year-long joint investigation by Madison Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, Hanover Police Department, Indiana State Police and Indiana State Excise Police.

A year later he was sentenced to nine years in prison and ordered to pay fines and fees totaling $300 for felony dealing of a controlled substance, battery and a probation violation.

Most recently he was arrested in October 2017 on a warrant for a parole violation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
