Last updated on Monday, July 23, 2018

(SEYMOUR) - A Martinsville man died after an accident on State Road 11 on Sunday night.

According to Indiana State Sgt. Jerry Goodin, 38-year-old John Kidd was traveling north on State Road 11, about three miles south of I-65, at 6:25 p.m. when police believe he suffered a medical emergency and became unresponsive.

His 13-year-old daughter Kennedy Kidd grabbed the steering wheel of the 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck and was able to maintain control of the truck as it continued to travel for several miles north on State Road 11.

Goodin says, Kennedy was able to steer the pickup off the roadway into a small thicket of brush bringing the pickup to a stop.
