Daviess County Superior Judge Dean Sobecki accepted 55-year-old Mark Jones change of plea Wednesday. He will be sentenced on September 24th. According to a plea agreement, Jones could be sentenced up to 20 years in prison.

Jones was originally charged with murder of 67-year-old David Duncan after a June 2, 2017 incident at Jone's home on County Road 350 West and 475 South. Duncan called police saying a man came to his home and he had shot the intruder.

According to Chief Deputy Gary Allison, Duncan of Washington went there to retrieve some property after filing for divorce from his wife who was now living with Jones. Police say Duncan's estranged wife of three years was not at the home during the incident.

An argument ensued between the two men and shots were fired. Police say both Jones and Duncan were armed with guns. Duncan was hit in the chest and stomach and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

After search warrants were issued and served from the prosecutor's office, Jones was charged with Duncan's murder.
