Lawrence County 4-H Goat Club Collecting Plastic Lids To Make Bench

Last updated on Friday, July 27, 2018

(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Goat Club needs the public’s help collecting plastic lids to be recycled and made into a bench for the goat barn at the fairgrounds.

Amanda Curren of the Goat Club committee says the club will pay $300 to Green Tree Plastic, in Evansville to have the lids melted and made into a bench - but first they need to collect more than 200 pounds of lids.

Just about any type of plastic lid is accepted. Examples include lids from mayonnaise and peanut butter jars, deodorant, cottage cheese, mustard and ketchup, laundry detergents and caps from aerosol cans of spray paint.

Lids and caps can be dropped off at Pam's Sewing and Alterations on L Street in Bedford and the Purdue Extension office on 16th Street open weekdays until 4:30 p.m. You can also, send email to Curren at amanda_curren@yahoo.com or any goat committee or club member to set up a drop off or pickup time.

The club hopes to have the bench completed by October.
