Traffic Restrictions On State Road 135 At Brownstown Bridge Begin Monday

Last updated on Friday, June 15, 2018

(JACKSON CO.) - The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to restrict State Road 135 traffic to a single lane next Monday at Brownstown.

The 3-span 132-foot-long structure on State Road 135 over Hough Creek - located 0.96 miles south of US 50 - is scheduled for repairs and installation of a new bridge deck overlay, expansion joints and concrete approach slabs. Work will be done on one-half of the bridge at a time to allow continuous traffic flow controlled by temporary signals.

INDOT officials anticipate these single-lane one-direction-at-a-time restrictions will continue for up to 90 days.

State Road 135's traffic count at the bridge is 3,320 vehicles per day.

E&B Paving is the state's contractor for this $2,230,246 4-bridge.rehabilitation and replacement project.

The State Road 235 5-span 524-foot-long bridge over the East Fork of White River east of Medora will be repaired and overlaid in August.

Small structures on State Road 235 north of Medora and State Road 250 at Brownstown will be replaced - impacting traffic later in the summer and fall.
