Paoli Woman Arrested On Drug Charges

(MITCHELL) - Mitchell Police arrested a Paoli woman after they stopped her Thursday night for speeding.

Police arrested 23-year-old Chelsea Talmage on charges of dealing meth 10 grams or more, possession of drug paraphernalia with a prior conviction, driving with a suspended driver's license with a prior conviction, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.

At 11:17 p.m., a Mitchell Police Department officer stopped Talmage who was driving a green Chevrolet Trailblazer above the posted speed limit east on Main Street. The officer followed Talmage who crossed the centerline several times.They pulled her over in the area of Fourth and Main street.

When asked why she was driving erratically, Talmage told police she was eating while driving.

Police then discovered her driver's license was suspended. When police searched her vehicle they found a bag containing marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the back seat and a backpack that contained 74 grams of meth and $280 cash.

She is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on a $200,000 surety or $20,005 cash bond. She is scheduled to appear in Lawrence County Superior Court today at 1 p.m. for her initial hearing.
