Last updated on Monday, June 18, 2018

(BEDFORD) - The North Lawrence School board hired Susan Petty to service as principal at Fayetteville Elementary School and Lucas Calhoun to serve as principal at Shawswick Middle School.

The Times Mail reports that Petty fills the Fayetteville post that had been held by Rhonda Hackler, who retired after 14 years in the position. Calhoun succeeds James Pentzer as principal at Shawswick Middle School. Pentzer retired at the end of the school year after having served as the school's principal for six years and as Shawswick Elementary School principal for four years before that.

Petty, of Bloomington, was assistance principal from 2011 to 2017 at Clear Creek Elementary School in Bloomington before being named the school's principal in July 2017. She had been an elementary school teacher from 1999 through 2011, having worked at two schools during that time.

Calhoun, of Bedford, worked most recently for Five-Star Technology Solutions, which focuses on educational technology. Previously, he served as principal at Shoals Junior-Senior High School from 2014 to 2016. He began his career in education as a teacher at North Daviess Community Schools in Elnora in 2009 and taught there until accepting the administrative post at Shoals.
