Mitchell Man Arrested For Driving Drunk, Leaving Scene Of Accident

(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested after police say he was intoxicated, struck another vehicle and fled the scene.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, officers were called to the 30th block of Easy Street at 10:06 p.m. after another motorist reported that his car was struck and the other driver failed to stop.

According to police, 47-year-old Michael Loveless of Mitchell was traveling north on Easy Street and was attempting to make a left turn into his driveway at the intersection of Easy and Diamond streets. At the same time, 37-year-old Timothy LaBadie of Mitchell was traveling north on Easy Street at a high-rate of speed and attempted to pass Loveless' car on the driver's side as Loveless was attempting to turn into the driveway.

Police say LaBadie's 2003 Mercury Sable sideswiped Loveless' 2016 Subaru causing damage to both vehicles. LaBadie then fled the scene and police found him at his home in the 580 block of Easy Street.

LaBadie was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
