Man Injured After Struck By Vehicle

(SPRINGVILLE) - An Owensburg man was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday morning after the driver got her boot stuck between the brake pedal and accelerator.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 70-year-old Janet Armstrong was backing her 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee into a barn at 4516 State Road 54 West to load some puppies when her boot got stuck between the brake pedal and accelerator.

The Jeep lurched backwards and struck the corner of the barn door, striking a gate and proceeded in reverse inside the barn and struck and rolled over 77-year-old James Jackson of Owensburg before coming to a stop against some fencing on the back wall of the barn.

Jackson suffered internal injuries and was flown by StatFlight to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
