(PORTERSVILLE) - A motorcycle pursuit landed a Loogootee man behind bars, Monday.

Deputies with the Dubois and Martin County Sheriff's Departments and Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, were in the Portersville area on a detail when a Dubois County Sheriff's Department deputy saw a speeding 1985 Honda Mana V30 pass an all-terrain vehicle in a no-passing zone at 1:20 p.m.

The deputy activated his emergency lights for a traffic stop, but the driver continued northbound on Portersville Bridge Road into Daviess County.

Stationed at the boat ramp were four Dubois County deputies, a Martin County deputy and a conservation officer.

Deputies stepped into the roadway, ordered the motorcyclist to pull over.

Deputies learned the driver 34-year-old Ryan T. Fields, was driving while never being licensed and had a suspended driver's license. Police also found Fields had a Xanax tablet, and a Suboxone packet in his wallet.

Fields was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle while never licensed, driving with a suspended driver's license with a prior conviction and possession of a Schedule III and Schedule IV controlled substances.

When a person is caught driving while never licensed the judge by law will suspend their driving privileges meaning they can not go and get their permit or license.

Fields posted bond later Monday afternoon.
