Lady Liberty Performs Saturday In Historic Congress Square in Orleans

(ORLEANS) - The Orleans Chamber of Commerce, Mid-Southern Savings, Orleans American Legion Post #69 and Visit French Lick and West Baden are teaming up once again to bring free community concerts to historic Congress Square in downtown Orleans.

Orleans Chamber Executive Director Robert Henderson saysat this year marks 17th year for the popular event.

"We are indeed grateful for the community's continual support of the series and are looking forward to another fun summer on the square," he added.

This year's series kicks off Saturday wait Ladies for Liberty at 7 p.m. on "Bicentennial Stage," located in the southwest corner of the square.

Ladies for Liberty is a singing troupe dedicated to performing the Andrews Sisters style of music through their own rendition of vocals, costumes, hairstyles and the spirit of patriotism of the 1940s.

Event sponsors for Saturday night's opening patriotic concert the Orleans American Legion will be serving up hot dogs and apple pie while supplies last. Come early and join in the festivities.

The concert series also includes local favorites, Sweetwater July 14; Johnathan Estes and his 50s & 60s Jukebox Memories July 21; Lick Creek July 28; Crawford County Community Band August 4 and closing out the series will be "Mojave" on Aug. 18.

All concert begin at 7 p.m. on the Southwest corner of Congress Square (Bicentennial Stage). Those attending are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets as seating in the park is limited.

In case of inclimate weather, weather, the concerts may be moved indoors to the nearby Orleans Christian Church Unity Hall.
