(SPENCER) - Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor for the $8 million State Road 46 reconstruction project at Spencer plans to shift lanes again at State Road 46, US 231/State Road 67 on the eastside where rebuilding the multi-lane intersection has challenged motorists at times.
Weather permitting, Milestone will alter traffic flow at the State Road 46 - US 231/State Road 67 intersection at Fletcher Avenue tomorrow morning. Excavation and pavement placement operations require closure of U.S. 231/State Road 67's northbound lane.
Northbound traffic will shift onto the southbound lane. A short turning radius will make right turns from westbound State Road. 46 to northbound US 231/State Road 67 difficult. Large trucks should consider alternative routes via State Road 67 or I-70.
Construction may also require the closure of Fletcher Avenue.
INDOT officials anticipate this phase of work at the intersection to be completed within a week to ten days. After that, all westbound State Road 46 traffic will be shifted to new pavement on the north side of the roadway while reconstruction takes place in the eastbound lane and south shoulder area.
