(UNDATED) - The combination of temperatures in the mid 90s and high humidity will result in a heat index values of 100 degrees or more today.

The National Weather Service is asking those that work or spend time outside to take extra precautions and to watch for signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

It will feel like it's near 80 by 8 a.m., the mid 90's by lunchtime and back near 100 degrees during the afternoon. We stay mainly dry today but another isolated shower or storm will be possible during peak heating hours in the afternoon. The next best chance for rain comes Tuesday late afternoon and evening. Daily chances for rain stay in the forecast through the weekend. Although temperatures will come down to the mid 80's, the humid air will linger throughout the week.

Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. Make sure that you protect your skin. The UV Index remains at a 10 today. Burns can happen very quickly within 15 minutes.

Temperatures inside a vehicle can be significantly higher than outside, even with windows open. Make sure not to leave children or animals in the vehicle as they can be quickly overcome by the heat.
