CBU Temporarily Changes Work Day ScheduleFor Employees

Last updated on Sunday, June 10, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Work continues on updating critical infrastructure across the city, affecting traffic flow in multiple areas.

In order to help reduce rush hour traffic, City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) will be adjusting the schedule of the Transmission & Distribution crews to begin their work day at 6:30 a.m., an hour earlier than normal. Office employees traveling from west of Walnut also will have the ability to flex their hours to minimize the number of cars diverted from infrastructure improvement projects underway on both West Country Club Drive and Grimes Lane.

"This type of infrastructure replacement causes temporary inconveniences, but provides essential updates for our customers and the development of the city," said Utilities director Vic Kelson. "CBU employees are joining other Bloomington residents in adjusting their work hours to decrease traffic during peak hours. We are all in this together."

The alternate schedule will be in effect until both the Country Club bridge and South Central sewer interceptor project at Grimes Lane are complete. CBU's office hours will remain the same throughout the construction: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. As always, customers have the option to call CBU customer service at 812-349-3930, the 24/7 emergency line at 812-339-1444, or use CBU's web services at bloomington.in.gov/utilities.
