(AZALIA) - A Bartholomew County man was killed after a tractor flipped and rolled over on top of him Monday morning in the 8800 block of South County Road 300 East.

Emergency crews and police were called to the home just north of Azalia, just before 10:30 a.m.

Bartholomew County Coroner Clayton Nolting says 38-year-old David Eckert was using a tractor to fill a hole with gravel and was positioned on a steep incline when his load shifted, causing the tractor to roll pinning Eckert.

Eckert was pronounced dead at the scene. He died from crushing blunt force trauma to his chest and abdomen.

No one else was injured.
