(BLOOMINGTON) - Two people charged in connection with starting a house fire that killed an 85-year-old woman have made their first court appearances.
Forty-eight-year-old Noel Montes Cazares and 44-year-old Misty Lou Allen appeared before a Monroe County judge during Mondays' initial hearings.
They were returned to Indiana last week following their arrests in California.
Cazares is being held without bond on murder, arson and other charges in Lerae Bush's February death in a Bloomington-area house fire.
Investigators say Cazares falsely claimed the wealthy woman was his mother and allegedly set the fire in hopes of inheriting her fortune.
Allen is charged with assisting a criminal and obstruction of justice. She allegedly visited Bush's burned-out home to retrieve cash, jewelry and a gun. She's being held on $250,000 bond.
