Seymour Police Department And Indiana Donor Network Promoting Organ Donations Today

Last updated on Monday, May 7, 2018

(SEYMOUR) - The Seymour Police Department and Indiana Donor Network are working together to promote organ donation.

From 2 to 4 p.m. today, IndyCar driver Stefan Wilson, who will drive for Andretti Autosport in this year's Indy 500, will be at Freeman Municipal Airport, 1040 A Ave., Seymour.

Wilson will be driving a police car through several different driving courses to promote the Driven2SaveLives campaign, which raises awareness for organ, tissue and eye donation.

His personal connection to organ donation is through his older brother, Justin Wilson, who was killed in a racing accident in 2015. By being an organ donor, Justin was able to save the lives of five people.

The event is open to the public, and participants will have the opportunity to try their racing skills in an IndyCar simulator provided by Indiana Donor Network.

At the same time, Stefan is helping the police department and Indiana Criminal Justice Institute promote seat belt usage and Operation Pullover since the next Click It or Ticket blitz is Friday through June 3.
