Second Person Dies In Motorcycle Crash On South Rockport Road

(BLOOMINGTON) - The 35-year-old Bloomington man driving a motorcycle that struck a moped on Wednesday has died.

According to Marchele Hall, an official from the Marion County Coroner's Office, Russell Bright died from his injuries at 2:58 p.m. on Thursday. Bright was being treated at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital.

The accident -

According to a Monroe County Sheriff's Department news release, 35-year-old Russell Bright was traveling south in the 3500 block of South Rockport Road Wednesday night when his 2000 Honda motorcycle crossed the center line.

Bright collided head-on with a 2015 Yamaha moped being driven by 34-year-old Jessica Hamilton.

Police say that Bright, Hamilton and Hamilton's passenger, 27-year-old Olivia Hamilton, were ejected from their vehicles. No one was wearing helmets during the incident.

Jessica Hamilton died at the scene. Her passenger, Olivia Hamilton and Bright were transported by ambulance to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital and later transferred to Methodist Hospital.

Olivia Hamilton is listed in stable condition and Bright in critical condition, according to the news release.

The crash shut down South Rockport Road for about two hours Wednesday night.
