Rotary International President To Honor 100 Years Of Bloomingon Rotary Switchyard Tree Planting And Centennial Gala

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Rotary Clubs will commemorate their centennial with two events on Thursday, May 10th, presided by Rotary International President, Ian Riseley of Moorooduc, Australia.

Switchyard Park Tree Planting will be from 1:45 p.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday.

In celebration of 100 years of Rotary in Bloomington and to meet his challenge for Rotarians to plant a tree for every Rotary member in the world (1.2 million), Rotary International President Ian Riseley will plant a tree at Switchyard Park. Bloomington's three Rotary clubs are on track to plant over 300 trees in Bloomington's parks and other shared spaces, surpassing their goal of 175.

Bloomington Rotary Centennial Gala 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., Thursday, May 10

To mark Bloomingon Rotary's centennial, Rotary International President Ian Riseley will address more than 175 Bloomington Rotary Club members, regional Rotary leaders, and dignitaries at the Bloomington Rotary Centennial Gala, May 10 at the Bloomington/Monroe Convention Center. The event is set to raise $100,000 for an outdoor recreation area for Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington's Crestmont unit.
