(ORLEANS) - Nothing welcomes a visitor like a rocking chair on the front porch. The Orleans Chamber of Commerce is asking residents and businesses to place a rocking chair outside their home allowing others to “come sit awhile.”
The implied invitation promotes friendship and camaraderie like no other symbol.
Officials hope to make the rocking chair a summertime symbol of Orleans friendliness and invite everyone to join in the effort.
Residents and businesses are also reminded of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday and dress up a window with a special patriotic display, fly your flag and show off your red, white and blue.
