According to a Lawrence County Police report, 58-year-old Marty Speer was traveling north on State Road 37 near Trogdon Lane when an unidentified car crossed State Road 37 onto Trogdon Lane in front of the Mack dump truck without stopping or yielding the right of way.

Speer applied his brakes and began swerving to avoid a collision.

The dump truck, owned by Flynn and Sons Construction, went off the roadway, struck a guardrail and traveled down the embankment on the east side of the northbound lane of State Road 37 and rolled onto the passenger side.
