26-year-old Joshua C. Bolin of Newburgh was sentenced as a repeat offender by U.S. District Judge Richard L. Young. His 10-year sentence is to be followed by 15 years supervised release, according to a release from United States Attorney Josh J. Minkler.

"Possessing sexually explicit material involving children further perpetuates the victimization of our most vulnerable citizens," Minkler said in the release. "Those who chose to take advantage of our children, particularly repeat offenders, will be a priority to this office and should expect to face the hammer of federal prosecution."

Law enforcement executed a search warrant on Bolin's Newburgh home January 2017. There they found a computer memory card containing 15 child pornographic video files, 72 child pornographic image files and hundreds of child erotica images, according to the release. Bolin received an enhanced sentence based on a 2015 felony conviction for possession of child pornography in Warrick County.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle M. Sawa said Bolin must also pay a $5,000 fine.

Minkler announced a strategic plan designed to shape and strengthen the District's response to its most significant public safety challenges in October.

"This prosecution sentencing demonstrates the office's firm commitment to partner with federal and local law enforcement agencies to prosecute those individuals who exploit or harm children or other vulnerable victims," according to the release.
