Limestone Post Art Show & Print Edition Release Party June 1 At I Fell Building

Last updated on Thursday, May 17, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington’s unofficial summer kick-off begins on Friday, June 1, with a number of events during Gallery Walk at the growing arts community at the intersection of West 4th and South Rogers streets.

Limestone Post Magazine is hosting an art show and release party celebrating its first print edition, an art magazine dedicated to Bloomington's bicentennial, as part of First Friday @ the Fell in the main gallery of the I Fell Building (415 W. 4th Street). The print issue, Limestone Post's A Sense of Place, will be available for purchase, and artwork featured in the magazine will be on display. The art magazine describes Bloomington's sense of place, told through articles, art, poetry, photos, and other creative ways.

The accompanying art show at the I Fell includes a broad range of mediums -- ceramics, illustration, letterpress, painting, photography, sculpture, and woodcuts -- by artists Adam Reynolds, AJ O'Reilly, Amy Brier, Anna Powell Teeter, Carrie Markey, Daria Smith, Ellen Starr Lyon, James Tracy, Mark Blaney, Mark Ratzlaff, Meg Lagodzki, Michal Ann Carley, Penina Gal, Richard Koenig, and Uel Sven. Many of the artists will be in attendance and snacks and refreshments will be provided. The exhibit will continue to be open during the I Fell's gallery hours throughout June.

I Fell studio artist Angela Caldwell's work will be shown in the I Fell's pop-up gallery on June 1 and throughout the month as well.

Limestone Post is also working with neighborhood partners to host a First Friday Block Party with family activities, community booths, and food outside on 4th Street from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 1. The block party coincides with the grand opening of the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts and the First Friday art openings at the I Fell and Rainbow Bakery. Participants in the block party include: FAR Center for Contemporary Arts & Pictura Gallery, I Fell Galleries, Rainbow Bakery, Secretly Group, TribeSwell, Rhett Skateboarding, Rock Paper Scissors, Spoke&Word, Monster House Press, WFHB, and more.
