Foot Patrol In Shoals Results In Arrest Of Three People On Drug Charges

(SHOALS) - On Monday, at 12:05 a.m., Martin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tyler Reed was on foot patrol on an access lane off of Spout Springs Road in Shoals when he noticed a vehicle in the parking area at the end of the road.

When he got close enough, he watched the occupants pass back and forth a glass smoking pipe used to ingest meth.

Deputy Reed then made contact with the people in the vehicle and also smelled the odor of marijuana.

One of the occupants had the smoking device in his hand and confiscated the item.

Residue in the pipe tested tested positive for meth.

Police arrested 30-year-old Russell Tussey, 21-year-old Timothy C. Troutman, and 21-year-old Ashton V. Pottorff, on charges of possession of meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Tussey was also arrested on a charge of maintaining a common nuisance and Troutman, Pottorff are facing a charge of visiting a common nuisance.

During a search of the vehicle officer found a pill bottle containing a white crystal substance that field tested positive for meth, a hand-rolled cigarette containing a green leafy plant-like substance that field tested positive for marijuana, and a glass smoking device containing a burnt residue with the odor of burnt marijuana. Officers also located a second hand-rolled cigarette of marijuana in Pottorff's pocket.

All three were arrested and transported to the Martin County Security Center.
