Bloomington Woman Struck By Stray Bullet

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington woman was struck by a stray bullet on Friday while sitting in the living room of her apartment.

Police say the bullet from an apartment next door traveled through the wall, into a shared stairway and then into the Amdana Koumoutsos' apartment striking her in the arm. The bullet entered her arm, then exited and struck her in the chest breaking the skin.

Koumoutsos was sitting on her couch when she was shot. She is thankful she was on the couch which slowed the bullet down.

She will have to undergo surgery to remove the debris from the couch that was embedded in her arm

The bullet went through the wall then the couch before striking her.

Bloomington Police say according to witnesses and the tenants, Gabriel Alsman was visiting next door when he accidentally fired the weapon. Police are still looking for Alsman, who fled the apartment after the incident.
