Lawrence County Police arrested 29-year-old David Erdmann of Bedford on felony charges of domestic battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman, strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.

According to a Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, Lawrence County Sheriff deputies were called to the home on Nov. 17 after a report of a domestic fight.

When police arrived a woman told them she and Erdmann were arguing and he had become violent.

Erdmann allegedly kicked a bouncy seat over her six-month-old son, who was lying on the floor. When she went to pick up her son, Erdmann knocked her down into a chair, then put one hand on her face and one hand on her throat, choking her.

The woman was eventually able to get to her son and sat with him on a couch. That is when Erdmann dragged her off the couch while she was holding the child, she told police.

She also accused Erdmann of breaking her phone by throwing it against the wall when she attempted to call for help.

Erdmann is being held in the Lawrence County jail on a $20,000 surety and $2,005 cash bond.
