Accident Claims Life Of Orleans Man

(LIVONIA) - An early morning accident on Thursday claimed the life of an Orleans man.

According to Washington County Sheriff' Washington Roger Newlon, the accident happened at 4:22 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 56 West and State Road 337 in Livonia.

When police arrived, deputies found that 43-year-old Bret Freed of Orleans had died at the scene.

Police say Freed, who was operating a 2012 Toyota Corolla, was traveling southbound on State Road 337 when he failed to stop at the intersection of State Road 56 West.

Freed's vehicle continued through the intersection and was struck by a semi tractor trailer that was traveling westbound on State Road 56, driven by Kenneth Cupp of Salem.

Cupp was not injured in the crash.
