5th Annual Dumon McCain Memorial Ride For Johnny Lee

Last updated on Monday, May 21, 2018

(BEDFORD) - Area riders will all gather June 9th for the 5th Annual Dumon McCain Memorial Ride that will support Johnny Lee.

Johnny is five years old. Last March he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic b-cell leukemia. His treatments are very high-risk and aggressive.

"He's such a funny little boy, he's got a smile that goes from ear to ear- he's got big 'ole ears- it takes up his whole face," said event organizer, Misty Grow.

"He gets a bone marrow test once a month and he has to do chemo for at least three more years- and he's only 5 years old," Grow continued.

All proceeds from the ride will benefit Johnny's family. There is a minimum donation of $20 to ride.

The ride will start at Stone City FOP Lodge #94 inside Murray Park and, after almost a three hour ride that includes stops, end at Buffalo Wings and Rings in Bedford.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. while kickstands will go up at 11 a.m.

Buffalo Wings and Rings will donate 5% of their proceeds on June 9th from anything purchased from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction with items like $500 gift card, Kids Harley Davidson Helmet, Holiday World Tickets and much more.

Growby's RTO sponsored t-shirts for the ride that will sell for $10. The proceeds from the t-shirt will also benefit the Lee family.

Over the past 5 years, the Dumon McCain Memorial Ride has raised over $12,000 for their recipients.

Past recipients were Haley Alexandria, Trinity Goodson, Brittani Tow Pena and the family of Dumon McCain.

Dumon McCain was 14 years old when he died from brain cancer. Dumon was known to capture the hearts of everyone that met him.

"In 2014 we got to put Dumon in a side car and he got to do a ride. It was amazing I think we had almost 300 riders... it was just a great day. He passed away that year," said Misty.
