Washington Man Sentenced After Pleading Guilty To Sexual Misconduct With A Minor

(WASHINGTON) - A Washington man was sentenced Friday morning in the Daviess County Superior Court after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor, a level 5 felony, in mid-February in a negotiated plea deal.

23-year-old Michael Norrington was sentenced to to 1,440 days in the Indiana Department of Corrections and was given credit for 207 days already served and 69 days of good time credit.

He was also be recommended for the Indiana Sex Offender Management and Monitoring.

Norrington was arrested after police say he engaged in sexual activity with a then 15-year-old between March 1 and Oct. 24, 2016. He was held on a $10,000 bond.

According to court documents, in October of 2016, the victim's parents contacted Washington police to report their daughter had been sneaking out of the house at night. The victim's mother told police she believed her daughter was seeing Norrington, who was 21-years-old at the time. A week later, the victim admitted to have sexual and oral intercourse with Norrington.

During a police interview in November of 2016, Norrington admitted to having intercourse with the victim on two occasions. Both the victim and Norrington also admitted to engaging in oral intercourse.

Norrington was also sentenced to an additional 500 days in the Indiana Department of Corrections for a petition to revoke a suspended sentence. That sentence was suspended.

According to court records, in December 2014, Norrington pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property. He received 540 days of probation but violated the terms of that probation and was giving an additional year on supervised probation. It was during that additional time on probation he committed the sexual misconduct with a minor.
