Purdue@WestGate Launches Startup Pitches To Showcase Indiana's High-Tech And Entrepreneurial Talent

(ODON) - As part of the ‘First Tuesdays’ monthly events, Purdue@WestGate is adding startup pitches to showcase the state’s high-tech and entrepreneurial talent.

Every first Tuesday of the month, Purdue@WestGate organizes several free events to foster collaboration, innovation, and creativity across the region. The next series of events will feature three Indiana-based startups Tuesday, May 1 at WestGate Academy, including a Purdue Foundry at WestGate Entrepreneur-in-Residence as well as a current and a future Firestarter participant.

Purdue@WestGate is showcasing the technology that fuels The Bee Corp. Ellie Symes, the chief executive officer of The Bee Corp, will be display the different sensors they use for their research, their dashboard, and the analysis they have done so far. The Bee Corp is an IU based agriculture-technology startup that has raised more than $750 thousand dollars in funding. The Technology Demonstration will start at 11:30 a.m. ET, with Indiana University sponsoring lunch during the demo.

Along with a technology demonstration from The Bee Corp, Purdue@WestGate is hosting the Battery Innovation Center, a WestGate@Crane Technology Park Tenant. Ben Wrightsman, the president and CEO of the BIC, will be speaking about the state of the battery industry. Wrightsman will also discuss the important role energy storage plays in innovating, differentiating, and shaping our lives. The BIC works with more than 100 global firms such as Facebook, Amazon, LORD Corporation, and Cummins. The seminar begins at 3:30 p.m. ET.

The public is welcome to Free Cowork Day at our cospace, The Lock & Key at WestGate Academy. This also provides the public a collaborative environment to work remotely between the Tech Demo, News Before Brews, Startup Pitches, and The Spirited Entrepreneur. Lunch will be provided by Indiana University.

Tech Demo featuring The Bee Corp
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Purdue@WestGate features a technology demonstration from The Bee Corp. The IU-based agtech startup has received more than $750K in funding and provides IoT bee and hive monitoring services, allowing beekeepers to maximize hive production, track hive health and security, and increase honey and pollination revenue. News Before Brews featuring The Battery Innovation Center
3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

NSWC Crane STEM Program: Maker Space Open House
4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Parents and their kids grades 7-12 are invited to participate in activities like 3D printing, programming, and electronics.

The public is welcome to attend events starting at 8:30 EST. Structured programming begins with the Technology Demonstration at 11:30 am ET.
