Last updated on Tuesday, April 10, 2018

(BLOOMINGTON) - Public comment is needed on a proposed hiking trail around Griffy Lake.

The Environmental Resources Advisory Council is asking residents to share their ideas, review maps of the area and add to the discussion of a possible route options on the city's bicentennial "Trees and Trails" initiative during a meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Bryan Park's Henderson Shelter, near the intersection of South Henderson and East Allen streets.

"This is an exciting project, and we are eager to hear what local trail users have to say about building this kind of trail," Elizabeth Tompkins, natural resources coordinator for the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, said in a news release. "We and the volunteer members of ERAC will spend the next few weeks reviewing possibilities, and exploring how to meet the challenges posed by a project of this scope."

Residents who want to give input about the proposed "Trees and Trails" can contact Tompkins at (812) 349-3759 or email her at tompkine@bloomington.in.gov.
