Last updated on Wednesday, April 4, 2018

(BELMONT) - One person died and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash on State Road 46 West, Thursday morning.

The police report was released Tuesday.

Brown County Coroner Earl Piper says 52-year-old Stephan Woods, of Bloomington, died at the scene of multiple blunt-force injuries.

The crash happened just before March 29th at 8 a.m. near Summers Place Trail.

According to police. Wood's Subaru was struck head-on by a Chevrolet Cruz driven by 26-year-old Joshua Cline, of Bloomington. Following the collision the Subaru went over an embankment and into water.

Cline told police he couldn't remember what happened to cause his vehicle to cross the centerline. He told police he way home from his place of employment in Columbus and the next thing he remembers is someone knocking on his vehicle's window asking if he was okay.

A witness told police they were following Cline westbound on State Road 46 and saw his vehicle swerving on the highway before the accident.

A passenger in Wood's vehicle, 49-year-old Jodi Adkins, of Bloomington, was also injured and was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment. Cline suffered minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment and a blood-alcohol test. Those results are pending.

The highway was closed for more than four hours while officers investigated the accident.
