No Injuries Reported After Disgruntled Truck Driver Fires Shots At RR Donnelley

Last updated on Tuesday, April 24, 2018

(SEYMOUR) - No one was injured after police say a “disgruntled truck driver” fired several shots outside of the RR Donnelley printing plant on A Avenue East in Freeman Field Industrial Park in Seymour, this morning.

No arrests have been made in the incident.

Police responded to the plant just after 4 a.m. after a report of shots fired. Police arrived within four minutes of the initial call.

According to Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott, a driver became upset after a delay in a load they were set to pick up was not ready.

Officers interviewed two drivers - a tandem truck driving team from Palestine - and recovered three handguns in the truck and spent shell casing after the incident, Chief Abbott says.

The gun was fired multiple times into the ground on the south side of the building. Police believe one of those driver's fired the gun, but both have denied firing the weapon, Chief Abbott added. There was no evidence the gun was fired toward any person or building.

The shell casings and guns were sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for testing.

Chief Abbott is hoping DNA or fingerprints on at least one of the handguns will tell police lead police to who fired the weapon.

The person that fired the weapon could be facing charges of criminal recklessness and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
