Richardson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

On Friday, police received information that Richardson was at an address in the 3100 block of West Vernal Pike in Bloomington.

Richardson was wanted for brutally battering, strangling and stabbing a 29-year-old woman over the course of three days at a residence in the 2600 block of South Rogers St. in Bloomington.

He was believed to be armed with multiple handguns and was considered dangerous.

A search warrant was obtained and the Bloomington Police Department Critical Incident Response Team was activated to serve the warrant.

Officers from the Bloomington Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff's Office blocked off Vernal Pike and Woodyard Road in preparation of the search warrant. At 12:35 p.m., CIRT was approaching the house when Brandon Richardson fled the residence in a 2003 red Acura. He proceeded west on Vernal Pike and struck a Sheriff's vehicle and then turned north on Woodyard road where he crashed into three other police cars.

Richardson then shot himself once in the head with a handgun. He was in critical condition and was transported to Indiana University Health Hospital for treatment.

No officers were injured during the event.
