(BEDFORD) - On Tuesday, Lincoln Avenue between Ninth and 14th streets will be closed for construction of the roundabout at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue.
Bedford Street Commission Dan Kirk says motorists who need access to the homes and businesses on the closed stretch will be allowed through.
The closure is expected to last through the summer. Motorists are asked to use O or R streets if they are traveling west of the construction area and I or J streets if they need to travel east of the construction site.
John Williams Boulevard will be closed east of O Street until construction is completed.
Milestone of Bloomington will complete the project at a cost of $1,193,300. The roundabout should be completed, weather permitting, by August 1.
City officials say the roundabout will improve traffic flow, reduce accidents and eliminate long delays for motorists on John Williams Boulevard preparing to turn left on Lincoln.
During the closure Milestone will work on the sidewalk project on Lincoln Avenue and the Limestone pedestrian trail on Lincoln to L Street. Kirk says having limited traffic in the area will expedite the project.
