Indiana State School Music Association Qualification Contest Friday And Saturday

(BEDFORD) - Bedford North Lawrence High School’s music department is hosting the Indiana State School Music Association qualification contest for band, orchestra and choir Friday and Saturday at the Performing Arts Center.

The event is free to attend.

The top 16 scoring bands and choirs and the top eight orchestras from around the state will advance to the state finals next weekend in Indianapolis.

The contest begins Friday at 5 p.m. with the BNL wind ensemble.

Saturday morning's competition starts at 8:30 a.m. with bands and orchestras performing until 1:10 p.m.

Choirs will perform beginning at 2:40 p.m., continuing until 5:50 p.m.

The BNL orchestras will not perform because they competed two weeks ago at Floyd Central. Both the orchestras and symphonic band received gold ratings for their performances.
