(ORLEANS) - The newly crowned 2018 Indiana State Fair Festival Association Queen Alyson Gouveia will visit the upcoming 50th Annual Orleans Dogwood Festival.

She will help with ceremonies set for opening weekend Saturday, April 21.

Gouvia who hails from Wabash where she reigned over the community's Garden Festival, is the daughter of John and Petula Gouveia. She is a senior at Ball State studying elementary education.

Gouvia told Robert F. Henderson, Exec. Director of Orleans Chamber of Commerce she is looking forward to a great year traveling to all of the state's festivals and pageants beginning with a visit to "Indiana's Dogwood Capital."

"The Dogwood Festival has been a longtime and active member of the ISFA participating in its activities throughout the year and we are indeed honored to be able to host this year's reigning festival queen." Henderson added.
